Stella Lefkofsky grew up in Glencoe, Illinois, and studied public health at Tulane University with no plans for a music career. While studying abroad in Amsterdam, she began posting original songs on TikTok, and started releasing music independently after graduating in 2024.
Her 2026 single Boston, built around a melodic interpolation of Noah Kahan's Stick Season, became a viral breakout that led to a deal with Atlantic Outpost, Atlantic Records' country imprint. Her debut album, Long Way Home, followed that August.

Boston reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of August 29, 2026, and No. 3 on the all-genre Hot 100. Her album Long Way Home (14 tracks) has also charted, and she announced a 2027 Long Way Home headlining tour, per Billboard News.
